The Middle

Happy Monday friends! Hope your week is off to a good start.

Today in Music Monday! I have recently stumbled upon a song that perfectly describes my life right now. Here lately, I have definitely being feeling the struggle of becoming an adult. Kelsea Ballerini recently released her album Unapologetically and today’s song choice is one of the gems featured on the record. I am a fan of the album in general, however the song In Between really hits home for me. The first minute of the track goes a little something like this:

In between just a flame and a ring
In between an apartment and a frontporch swing
In between cheap and fancy a guitar and a Grammy
In between reckless and responsibility

Sometimes I’m my mother’s daughter, sometimes I’m her friend
Sometimes I play grown up and sometimes I play pretend
Sometimes I’m a princess dressed all curves
And sometimes I just wanna scream “I’m not a little girl!“
Dumb enough to think I know it all
Smart enough to know I don’t
Young enough to think I’ll live forever
Old enough to know I won’t

As a young adult trying to find their way in this world, this song is extremely relatable. I’m somewhere stuck in between being a full blown adult and proud of it and wanting to be a kid again because life was simple then. I want to live up the young single woman lifestyle but also want to settle down. I want to dress up all the time and look put together yet I also want to watch cheesy romance movies in my sweats.

I may be stuck in the middle of many things, but that’s okay. That’s what learning how to navigate life is all about. It’s the beauty in growing up.

If you liked this post, you should give the song and album a listen! Enjoy your Monday friends!

Love,

M
